The Shop Witney Now Stocking Items

I’m delighted to announce that The Shop in Witney is now stocking some of my items.

This is such a great venue, situated in Marriotts Walk, stocking amazing products from lots of local artisans. Around 60 in fact! I am aiming to keep a small selection of lamps, as well as some smaller items, available to view and purchase there. As I only produce a relatively small number of items, this opportunity will mean that the availability on my website will be lower. I will continue to post about everything on my social media and will state if they are currently stocked at The Shop.

Please do support them if you are in the area and you’ll be delighted to know that there is lots of free parking very close by.

Collaborative work with artist Theodora Boorman

Collaboration between Jets Pottery and Theodora Boorman leading to truly exciting and unique ceramic pieces for the home

During Oxfordshire Artweeks 2023 I was incredibly fortunate to cross paths with the very talented Theodora. Theo is a mixed-media artist based in Woodstock, like myself, whose artwork is very much influenced by material culture, story-telling and folklore from around the world.

All potters (and probably all makers) will tell you that there are certain parts of the process that they love more than others and decorating/glazing is certainly my least favourite of the stages. So it felt like a match made in heaven when I discovered that Theo had found a love of decorating clay and wanted to do more! Roll forward a few weeks and the first pieces from our collaboration have now been completed.

The first completed piece is a lamp with incredible deer motifs all around the base. This look was achieved by the base, thrown by me, being painted in a black underglaze and then scraped back to the raw clay,, revealing the pattern in all it’s glory. A technique known as sgrafitto.

It is very hard to portray just how striking this piece is in a photo. You will love it even more in real life.

The second available piece is a large vase embellished in blue and with intertwined Ouroboros. Again done using the sgrafitto technique and all carved freehand by Theo.

A truly unique piece with an antique feel. It contrasts beautifully against the deep red of these roses but is equally as striking with a dried flower arrangement in it.

Both of these pieces are now available in the shop and we’re excited that more are in development. If you have any ideas that you would like to discuss then we would be more than happy to do so.

Artists in Woodstock in Oxfordshire Artweeks - 13-21st May

18 Artists, 5 Exhibition Spaces & 25 window displays. Artists in Woodstock are proud to take part in Oxfordshire Artweeks (www.artweeks.org) from the 13th-21st May

18 Artists, 5 Exhibition Spaces & 25 window displays. Artists in Woodstock are proud to take part in Oxfordshire Artweeks (www.artweeks.org) from the 13th-21st May with the main exhibition space being St Mary Magdalene Church in the centre of town. The support from everyone has been phenomenal and I’m so excited to be part of it!

I’ve developed a whole new series of work for this event, pulling on one of my early loves; fossils. Ammonites and trilobites adorn my pieces, finished in satin earthy glazes.

Preparing for Artweeks has pushed me to do things I’ve never done before, including ceramic tiles and lamps. This is combined with new glazing techniques, pieces larger than I’ve ever done before, and even making my own silicon sprig moulds from my personal fossil collection.

We launch at midday on 13th May at St Mary Magdalene church and it would be so good to see you there. I’m personally on duty on that day and then again the 20/21st. If you have any questions or queries then don’t hesitate to reach out.
