Copper Matte Vase

£55.00

This is a truly unique piece which is wheel thrown and then altered. It was then fired using the raku copper matte technique. This is a high risk firing process with no guarantees what colours or effects you’re going to get, or even if the piece is going to survive. It is very difficult to convey the colours on this vase in the photos. It is different from every angle, so if you fancy a change of look, then just rotate it. The vase has been pinched together to give it it’s unusual shape. It has 2 small openings at the top and a flared rim.

It has shimmery pinks, purples, blues and greens, copper and oranges, as well as the black from the fire. A true rainbow piece and one you’ll keep studying to see something new in the surface. As this is a raku piece, it is not watertight and so it is purely for decoration or dried flower arrangements. Copper matte items will continue to oxidise throughout their life, so over the years the colours will slowly change, so you are essentially owning a piece of evolving art.

22cm tall and 14cm at its widest point.

Do not put it in direct sunlight to retain the vibrant colours as long as possible.
